Developing the Internet of Nature

There are several visions for the Internet of Nature. My vision is one where spatial computing (AR/VR) and AI enable the development of Artificial Intelligence- Agents that structure the access and interaction with ecosystem services knowledge. The Agents also allow one to connect those services to a transactional market-oriented layer. Interactive visualization of the use of these Agents can be performed remotely using digital twins of natural systems. Thanks to augmented reality, we can also visualize digital layers of information superimposed “in situ” on Real World.

Bio: António Câmara is a professor at NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal. He was a Fulbright Scholar at Cornell University in 1988-89 and a visiting professor at MIT in 1998-99. He was a pioneer in spatial data systems and virtual reality. António Câmara was a leading researcher behind Portugal’s SNIG, that led to the development of EU’s Inspire infrastructure

Since 2000, he has also become an entrepreneur co-founding YDreams. This company became the World leader in augmented reality by 2010. YDreams has developed over 2000 projects in 40 countries for 50+ Fortune 500 companies. António Câmara also co-founded Ynvisible in 2011, now one of the leading printed electronics companies, and TUGA Innovations in 2021, one of the emerging mobility startups
