Questions, misconceptions and dogma: Addressing antimicrobial use and resistance in animals
This presentation will highlight a range of issues pertaining to antimicrobial use in animals, focusing on areas where there are common misconceptions or oversimplification of the issues. With a broad scope from antimicrobial use in individual animals to recent global antimicrobial stewardship activities, this presentation will bridge science, communications and advocacy efforts that aim to address the wicked problem of AMR.
J. Scott Weese Bio:
Dr. Weese is a veterinary internist and Professor at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Director of the University of Guelph Centre for Public Health and Zoonoses, Chief of Infection Control at the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre, and is a member of the Quadripartite Global Leaders Group on AMR and Chair of the WHO Advisory Group for Critically Important Antimicrobials in Human Medicine.
