Bowers CIS Earth Day Repair Fair

Looking to do something helpful for both you and the planet this Earth Day? Got a broken laptop that needs fixing or some old charging cords that you want to get rid of? Come by the Gates Hall Lobby on Tuesday, April 22 from 4-7 PM to repair your devices, donate them for reuse or recycle, or simply stop by to learn about environmental impacts of computing. With consultants from the Cornell Computer Reuse Association, the Ithaca fixing community, and members of the Computing on Earth lab, Cornell Bowers CIS and the Campus Sustainability Office present the Bowers CIS Earth Day Repair Fair. We will be accepting computers, laptops, headphones, chargers, batteries and more – anything with a cord (including the cord!). Learn about the environmental impacts of computing and consumer technologies, and how we can improve these through repair and education. We’ll have a “tech teardown” of a laptop at 5 PM if you’re curious about the inner workings of your devices, and posters from INFO 4260. Computing is a sustainability issue, so come celebrate Earth Day with Bowers CIS!! Email [email protected] with any questions.
