What Climate Science Actually Says About Extreme Weather

Roger A. Pielke, Jr. started The Honest Broker (THB) in October 2020 to highlight data, analyses, and commentary missing from public discussions of science, policy, and politics.

THB values intellectual hospitality and genuine debate, and all are welcome there. THB has very high expectations for how members of its community engage with one another — disagreement and debate are expected, and so too is respect and collegiality.

In June 2022, Pielke decided to make this publication his profession, not just a passion. Since then, THB has grown rapidly and is widely read and influential, with subscribers in all 50 U.S. states and more than 160 countries around the world. Just over half of THB’s ~36,000 subscribers are in the United States.

My expertise lies at that messy intersection of science, policy, and politics across multiple areas — climate, of course — and also extreme weather and its impacts, energy, government science advice, sports governance, scientists in the pandemic response, politicization of expertise, and more.
