Cornell’s Relationship to Indigenous Peoples: The Ithaca Campus and Beyond

In this talk Prof. Kurt Jordan, current director of the American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program, will discuss the Indigenous history of the Ithaca area, Cornell’s relationship to local Indigenous dispossession, and the far-reaching effects of Cornell’s funding via the Morrill Act of 1862. This foundational knowledge on the legacies of dispossession is a vital step for members of the Vet College community who wish to work with Indigenous peoples or address these legacies in their work, and within the college more broadly.
