EDF & Cornell Atkinson Collaboration-building Workshop 2024

EDF and Cornell Atkinson
Collaboration-building Workshop for Competitive Funding

September 30 – October 1, 2024

We invite all PI-eligible Cornell faculty to join us on campus for a workshop dedicated to fostering the research-to-action pathway between Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and Cornell researchers on key sustainability issues. Explore and develop proposals for competitive funding, with up to $100,000 available per project. (Register)

The EDF-Cornell Atkinson partnership and grant program accelerates problem-solving research that is vital to national and international policy discussions. By rapidly integrating new research into effective policy, this partnership addresses urgent environmental and public health challenges. Our collaborative efforts aim to catalyze solutions for the most critical sustainability challenges, enhancing scientific understanding and influencing the policies, practices, products, and opinions that shape our future. We leverage EDF’s practical approach to climate adaptation and mitigation across areas such as agriculture and food, fisheries and oceans, fresh water supplies, coasts and watersheds, and natural climate solutions. Additionally, we address energy transitions by targeting methane, hydrogen, and cleaner transportation, while building healthy communities through safer chemicals and reducing air pollution – all in alignment with Cornell Atkinson’s focus areas in climate, energy, food, and one health.

What to Expect:

Showcase Your Research: Participate in lightning talks to highlight your work and connect with colleagues tackling similar issues.Build Connections: Network with leading scientists and policy experts from EDF to gain insights into current research gaps and opportunities to drive real-world change.Collaborate and Innovate: Engage in thematic breakout sessions and workshops to develop ideas for collaborative research projects with the potential to receive up to $100,000 in funding.
