Gordon Campbell Annual Lecture with Dr. Jakob Zinsstag
The Gordon Campbell Annual Lecture on Veterinary Medicine and International Development will be held on Thursday, April 18th in Yarnell Lecture Hall 4 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The Campbell Lectureship was created to honor the late Professor Gordon Campbell’s legacy of supporting student personal growth, professional development and international engagement.
This year, the Campbell Lecturer is Dr. Jakob Zinsstag, presenting “One Health in Social-Ecological Systems: Combining Sustainable Natural Resource Management and Health Care for All Species”.
Dr. Zinsstag is a veterinarian with a PhD in tropical animal health. He spent eight years in West Africa at the International Trypanotolerance Centre in The Gambia and four years as the director of the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques in Côte d’Ivoire. He leads a research group on human and animal health at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (TPH), and is deputy head of the department of Epidemiology and Public Health at TPH. He focuses on the control of zoonoses in developing countries and the provision of health care to mobile pastoralists using a One Health approach.
