Soft Matter Seminar: Mazi Jalaal (Amsterdam)

Bio: Mazi Jalaal is an associate professor at the Institute of Fluids at the University of Amsterdam. He earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2017 and his B.Sc. in heat and fluid mechanics from the University of Tabriz in 2009. He joined the Amsterdam faculty in 2021 as an assistant professor. Prior to that, he serves as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Twente and the Max-Planck Centre for Complex Flows (2017-19) and the University of Cambridge (2019-21).

Jalaal’s research is in many aspects of biological and synthetic active matter, complex fluids, and multiphase flows.
